With current events it seems like everyone has a bit more time to be spending at home. With that in mind, I want to share some super cool series you can binge on Netflix! Being a food truck owner and a home-cook, I am always watching cooking/food shows to find the inspiration for my next taco. Anyone who loves food, should check out these series!
“Many of the most popular taco styles have long and rich, but little-known, histories; this docuseries explores some of them in this eye-opening, mouthwatering food adventure.”
This series aired on Netflix in 2019 and since then I have watched it at least three times. Every run through, I am finding something else I didn’t know about tacos and I love it! It is filmed in Mexico, so I warn that you will need subtitles if you want to understand it in English.
Each episode focuses on a different style of taco originating from Mexico. This includes, pastor, carne asada, carnitas, barbacoa and more. I love the focus they put into not only the tacos, but the community and history as well. I highly recommend this series to anyone wanting to learn more about tacos or just loves looking at food.
“Writer, director and food enthusiast Jon Favreau and chef Roy Choi explore food in and out of the kitchen with accomplished chefs and celebrity friends.”
This show needs no introduction, after Jon Favreau starred in Chef in 2014, it inspired not only me, but hundreds of people to start up a food truck and take it cross-country. Now, after 5 years, Jon Favreau is back with a more personal cooking show. With its first season airing in 2019, The Chef Show has seen enough success to make another two seasons.
Each episode includes a special guest that adds their own flair to the show and unique dishes from around the world. Now I know every episode isn’t focused on tacos, but still, the dishes you will see will make your mouth water! First time watching this brought a wave of nostalgia from the movie and got me excited to keep cooking and improving my recipes.
Once you finish these series you will feel like cooking something amazing at home. At least that’s how I felt. With all the variety in shows we have out there now, I am glad that something was specifically created for us taco lovers. Taco Chronicles is not only visually mouth-watering but also a history lesson delving deep into the areas not many people know about. With the Chef show, it brings a more casual and at home feeling to some very popular faces. I still can’t get over seeing Jon Favreau and Robert Downey Jr. just casually eating lobster rolls for lunch while talking about past memories! I hope you guys enjoy these series and that they inspire you to make something great.
